When it comes to weddings, I enjoy capturing details, candids, and behind-the-scenes, including the relatives and the people washing dishes, the bride getting ready, and all the nervous faces.
The most interesting and novel experiences for me have been photographing the weddings of distant relatives and/or family friends (I really don’t know how we’re related but it also really doesn’t matter). I get a bit antsy with regard to etiquette, but standing around with a camera somehow gets me the green light, even if I am just that burly distant relative who likes taking photos.
A lot of work goes behind a wedding (that’s why it’s called kerja kahwin) and I really enjoy documenting bits of it where I can. I am really grateful for all the times people have allowed me into their personal and familial spaces to capture both the special and overlooked moments.
